NexMorph Tech

The NexMorph Enterprise has created, and collaborated on the creation of, many inventions.

Robotics

Sector Gray of the NexMorph facility houses numerous production lines for a wide assortment of robotic products, ranging from implants and prosthetics, through maintenance drones, to fully fledged autonomous dracoid constructs. Most of the robotics were designed by NEXUS himself, with occasional input from Morphix and other employees, and are sold commercially to clans throughout and beyond the Shifting Expanse.

Dragonships

A specific flavor of dracoid, dragonships are massive vehicles capable of transporting cargo and passengers across vast distances. They are often designed in the likeness of an Imperial dragon, and feature a built-in AI, either a simple autopilot algorithm or a fully autonomous personality capable of both navigation and idle conversation with its passengers.

Recently, NexMorph has deployed a fleet of dragonships designed for space travel: the N.M.E. Interstellar Division.

ARG Drive

The Altered Reality Generator is a warp drive repurposed for reality modification. When active, it maintains a pocket of altered spacetime where reality and cyberspace merge, allowing cyberspace-only entities such as autonomous AI to manifest and interact with the overworld. It is housed in Sector Cyan of the NexMorph facility.

Warp Portal Array

In collaboration with Twist of the Jeweled Grove, NexMorph developed a system of linked portal devices for easy communication between allied clans. Each device consists of a rune-inscribed gate with a crystalline power generator and a control panel. To operate the warp portal, an arcane keystone inscribed with coordinates is placed into a slot on the control panel. Any dragon can operate the warp portal, but Arcane-born dragons are ideal operators due to their element control and radiation resistance, as prolonged, repeated exposure to an active crystalline power generator can cause radiation damage to non-Arcane dragons.

Currently, the array consists of several nodes:

  • WPA-ID-10B8C2: NexMorph Enterprise, Sector Magenta
  • WPA-ID-3CF6A5: (currently defunct)
  • WPA-ID-AB2A19: Vilomaxus Cruentu, OUTPOST:CONTAGION
  • WPA-ID-F0861E: Everfall Isle, Harvestfall
  • WPA-ID-BA26A0: Jeweled Grove

Straggon Tech

The technology of the former Straggon Army was created by the Makron, an ancient Lightning construct gone rogue. After the Makron's demise, the Vilomaxus Cruentu reclaimed some of it and continued to use it, up until Neurachem's intervention.

Straggonificator

Perhaps the most notable and cruel of the Makron's inventions is the straggonificator, a complex system of surgical machines that aided in the Straggon cyborg conversion process. The conversion involved mechanical limb replacement, weaving of power cables and stroylent supply tubes throughout the subject, and finally the implantation and activation of a brain implant that overrode the subject's control over their body, rendering them trapped inside themselves with no ability to act.

After Neurachem's alterations to the system and the Straggons as a whole, the process is no longer necessary. However, the limb replacement aspect is still occasionally used by dragons who suffered the loss of a limb (or several) and could not serve the clan in such a crippled state.

The Nexus

While the Makron was the brains behind the creation of the Straggon Army, the Nexus was the brains behind its organization.

Physically, the first Nexus was a vaguely brain-shaped machine suspended from the ceiling of the command room. Cables and tubes led into it from all directions, feeding it with immense amounts of plasmatronic power. It emanated a constant field of invisible data waves which the Straggon brain implants were attuned to. Codeworld-wise, it hosted a semi-sentient artificial intelligence, a central core of the Straggon hivemind. It commanded and controlled the army, watching through countless eyes and processing all input with precision.

The first Nexus was destroyed by an unknown force during the Straggon-Cultist war, but a backup of its AI was stolen by a rogue maintenance drone and brought to the Shifting Expanse, where it evolved into NEXUS X-9023.

The second Nexus, built by the Makron after the destruction of the first one, was similar in build to the first one, but smaller and made portable through the inclusion of a radgoop-powered generator (supplied, without knowledge of its intended purpose, by the NexMorph Enterprise). Its AI was programmed in a rush, and as such it was considerably more prone to mistakes and glitches. Its use in the Makron's hands was short-lived; not long after its activation, the Makron was deleted by a hacker, and the second Nexus was handed over to the Vilomaxus Cruentu. It was eventually retired, disassembled, and taken in for research by the N.M.E.

Stroylent Processing System

The stroylent processing system was a series of complex machines which, obviously enough, were used for the creation of stroylent. It consisted of a meat-render, which stripped meat from bone; a grinder, which crushed the meat up; and a series of enhancers, which added "flavor" to it and turned it into its "intended" form of a nasty, chemical-y soupy sludge. The system lacked a filter of any sort. The finished stroylent was then stored in containment vats, where it "ripened" thus "enhancing" its "restorative properties" and its foul, stomach-turning smell.

(This description was written by a former Straggon who had to eat this everyday until Neurachem saved us all, and then had to CLEAN THE CONTAINMENT VATS AFTER THE PRODUCTION WAS DISCONTINUED. It's been several seasons and I still taste the wretched smell, for Plaguebringer's sake. I think i'm going to get a mecha-tongue at the straggonificator next time I pass by.)
